Covid-19 Watch: 2,144 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,144 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (Aug 30), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Wednesday (Aug 31) that this brings the new total to 4,780,284cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,144, three are imported cases while 2,141 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,549 recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 31,159.

Of the active cases, 95.6% or 29,784 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 15 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.1% of active cases or 1,288 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 72 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 50 require ventilator support.
